Quad Gaming Rig (MARS)

So I found I needed something new - I was using the desktop all the time because it was always on and had all the disk space and it was getting so slow even doing basic web browsing.

So I decided to spend a little money and replace the ageing desktop - and this is what I got:

Running Windows Vista 64-bit.

Lots more photos available of the machine as I assembled it in my flickr account.

I've been having fun overclocking this machine a bit, and so far had it stable up to 3.4Ghz - a nice jump from the default speed of 2.4Ghz - and I suspect there's still a lot of room for play.

Desktop/File Server (JUGA)

This used to be my main desktop/file server, but has now been superceded by my new gaming rig (Mars).

I'm not sure what I will do with this machine yet, but it's still largely intact - all I've taken from it is the internal 3.5" USB multi-card reader.

Pentium 4 2.4GHz
Radeon 9700
1GB DDR Ram
DVD-RW Drive
970GB of Disk Space

Gaming Laptop (TheBeast)

So a couple of years back I decided that I needed a new PC to play games on - my desktop wasn't cutting it.  I didn't have a lot of cash saved up, so I decided instead of buying a new mobo/cpu/memory/gfx card for my desktop I'd go the salary sacrifice route and get a gaming laptop.

To this end, I have a Dell XPS M1710 Laptop which is configured as follows:
2.16Ghz Dual Core Processor (T2600)
2GB DDR2 667Mhz SDRAM
17" UXGA 1920x1200 resolution display with TrueLife
512MB Geforce Go 7900GTX Graphics card
100GB SATA 7200rpm Hard Drive
Wireless A/B/G,Bluetooth
Special Formula Red Edition

Running Windows XP

It's an awesome laptop and runs so smoothly and hardly breaks a sweat.

Web/Mail/DNS Server (Atom)

This is my Server Atom - it is my gateway to the internet, firewall, and handles all DNS, Mail and Web for my home domain juga.org and several other domains I own.

It's a small little machine, but does a lot of work:

Gigabyte GA-PCV2 Mini-ITX Motherboard
PC-1500 1GHz Via CPU
1GB DDR RAM
80GB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
Antec Minuet Case
Intel Pro/1000 GT Desktop Adaptor

Running Debian 4.0 (Etch).

Wireless Router (Openwrt)

I have a Linksys WRT54GS 1.1 which I use for my wireless routing - this is handy for linking up the Wii and the laptop if I want portability around the house.

Of course as a happy hacker of devices I don't run stock firmware on it, I instead have OpenWRT (White Russian) installed with X-Wrt additions.

Network Attached Storage (Obelix)

So I started running out of hard drive slots in my file server, and decided I'd go for a NAS solution to add more space.  To this end I picked up a DLink DNS-323 - 2 drive NAS solution.

I've got a couple of 1TB Western Digital Caviar GP drives in it at the moment and this is more than enough network storage space for me for now.

This is a pretty neat device - it runs Linux under the hood and with a few tweaks (which I've done of course) you can telnet into the device and start installing additional software/functionality.
